The weather certainly has been a headline for most of the country this year. Whether floods, drought, tornadoes, fires started by lightning, too hot or too cold, too windy, too cloudy, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, full moon, starry night and many more that could be added, we seem to be looking at weather reports on the news, websites, and phone apps. The Farmer's Almanac has been predicting the weather for decades.
Today, I am introducing the "most accurate" weather prediction tool introduced to me as a child by my Aunt Viola. She kept the records in her daily diary over the decades. You will be amazed how accurate or out-in-left field this system can be. The weather has a path of its own. How many times does the educated meteorologist predict the weather accurately?
So if you would like to do a fun activity starting today December 26 and the next five days, pay attention to the weather of each day. At noon, use your phone app or your own observations and summarize temperature, humidity, wind speed/direction, precipitation, sunny/cloudy. The morning is predicting a month of 2020 and the afternoon is predicting another month. So December 26 is predicting January/February; December 27, March/April; December 28, May/June; December 29, July/August; December 30, September/October; and December 31, November/December.
When my aunt wrote down her observations, she had no computer or cell phone to check if she wanted more detailed information. There are some weather apps that give the information every hour and you could just cut and paste to give you a window of each hour/day of the new month. You can play around with this technique as your interest and time allows.
I included a chart to help you get started. Hope you enjoy. And of course, have a blessed 2020.
